American Health Care Academy: Bloodborne Pathogens Online Course

AHCA's $9.95 Bloodborne Pathogens online course compared with OSHA's annual, workplace-specific training and interactive Q&A requirements.

Course details checked October 15, 2026. American Health Care Academy sells a self-paced online Bloodborne Pathogens course for people who may encounter blood or other potentially infectious materials. The provider advertises a one-year course completion credential, but OSHA compliance depends on the employer’s entire required training program, not just a purchased online certificate.

What the online product covers

  • Seven chapters about transmission, infection prevention, PPE, response to exposure incidents, cleaning and reporting.
  • An estimated 1–2 hours of self-paced online learning and a provider-administered assessment.
  • Advertised one-year completion documentation and online quiz attempts, subject to the provider’s terms.

What OSHA actually requires for exposed employees

Under 29 CFR 1910.1030(g)(2), employers covered by the bloodborne pathogens standard must provide relevant training at initial assignment and at least annually. It must be during working hours and at no cost to the employee. The content includes the employer’s own exposure control plan, reporting procedures and other job-specific precautions.

OSHA also requires an opportunity for interactive questions and answers with a knowledgeable trainer. Its June 2003 interpretation explains that access to a trainer at the time questions arise matters for non-classroom formats. A self-paced quiz and a mailed wallet card do not, by themselves, establish that the complete employer training duty was met.

Advertised price and acceptance

Published price: $9.95 on October 15, 2026. Confirm who will supply the employer-specific material, what qualified question-and-answer access is available, whether training records meet company policy, and whether your workplace requires additional instruction.

How it differs from CPR and first aid

Bloodborne pathogens training addresses workplace infection exposure. It is not the same as CPR/AED or First Aid. Some AHCA bundles combine topics, such as its CPR/AED + First Aid + Bloodborne Pathogens course; however, bundling topics does not eliminate the job-specific OSHA requirements.
